Evaluation- What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

By using a easy and popular social networking site, we were able to post our music video on Facebook and ask for feedback.

This way we were able to easily and clearly see what people would comment on our music video and see what the public thought.

These two posts overall think that our music video was good, but the weakness of our music video was the lip syncing. However, as a group we realised that the lip syncing was not 100% matched throughout the video, we then tried our best to match it up but we found that we could not as the model did not open her mouth wide enough to sync the lyrics and synced it at different times to the music. Even though Facebook allowed us to gather feedback from our music video, it was not enough feedback. Therefore we also collected feedback from a wider variety of people from different ages in years 8 to 10 from school. However, this could be argues as bias as it was from all girls, but at the same time we managed to get a lot of feedback.

Overall, majority of the feedback mentioned that the lip syncing was bad, so from this I would take that if I were to do this again in the future, I would not use the same model and make sure the person who is taking part in the video know all the lyrics so it would match correctly to the song and so it would also save time. From the feedback, quit a lot of people wrote that the music video was good at telling the story and meaning of the music video. Originally, as a group we brainstormed ideas for the music video when listening to the song and then put our ideas together or improved them further, so I would do this again in the future. We tried very hard to match the visuals to the lyrics and found that it worked from the feedback we received.
From the feedback, we learnt that the model did not look very confident and not very good at expressing the emotion throughout some parts of the music video. So, again, we would not use the same model in the future.
During the process of creating our music video, we decided to make the whole music video in black and white as it links to the theme of London Grammar and it would match the theme and mood of the song, in which it matched the urban/gritty feeling. Whilst looking at the feedback, we found that we made the right decision as most people thought that the black and white effect was effective and related to the mood of the song.
I also learnt that the shots we used were effective, especially all the close-up and extreme close-up shots as it showed more emotion and in majority of music videos, most shots used are close-up shots. This allowed us to show more detail and be creative with the video. The shots also matched the pace to the song.
We found most people particularly liked the shot of the bottle smashing. We did this in order to make it creative and effective, whilst relating it to the lyrics of the song. By doing so, we achieved the positive feedback for this and made it stand out to viewers.
In addition, we found that the majority of people also thought that the overlay scenes were effective. We did this so that the two scenes could merge together in order to create the mood and emotion and to also show the message of the lyrics as the two scenes put together linked.
The clothes which we wanted the model to wear consisted of a checkered skirt, a white top and a denim jacket to create that urban/gritty look in order to match the scene of the song. From the feedback, we found that we chose the appropriate clothes for the music video.
Overall, our music video was a success of communicating the mood, emotion, and meaning of the lyrics in order to tell the story which we aimed for and now have achieved it.
